...DON'T use oil pastels and markers on the original. EVER. Sadly, I managed to ruin this drawing my jumping into the coloring too soon. I didn't get a chance to fix the shape of the eyes, and I'm kind of kicking myself for it. Live and learn, right?
But thank goodness for Photoshop. There's always something you can do to somewhat salvage a not-so-great work.
I usually make photocopies of the original and color them in either by hand or with photoshop so that I'll have more options. Therefore, I'm probably not going to sell any originals. Besides, I've never felt a strong desire to own an original anyways and am much content with a reasonably-priced print. How about you?

Featured Blogger Sketch #1: Claire of Like Spinning Plates
Hellooo! I've been wanting to draw some of my fellow bloggers as part of developing my drawing skills (I'd type that in a Napoleon Dynamite voice if I could), so I decided to make it a weekly feature. My next victims may include Shayla of The Inexplicable Rabbit, Dominique of Wrens and Roses, Elsie of A Beautiful Mess, and Lizzy of Lizzy Vanderligt. I just hope that I don't butcher anyone too terribly. If you object to being featured here, send me an email at zanniplainjanefashion [at] gmail [dot] com. I won't draw you, and if I've already drawn you, I'll burn it. And unfollow your blog. Kidding.
Without further ado...
Claire's blog is definitely my favorite fashion blog right now for a ton of reasons. In addition to having a great sense of style, she's also hilarious, witty, and loves Pillow Pets. And bacon. I remember seeing her first post in Chictopia when she'd just started her blog, so it's crazy to see how far she's come in only what, three months? She totally deserves the success she's met so far and she's definitely going to go far in fashion blogging. Unlike some blogs that are dry and impersonal, hers is teeming with personality. Go check out her blog if you haven't already!
Oh, and after seeing so many cute things from Forever 21 in her posts, I finally got up the courage to go in there and buy something. I've had an aversion to F21 because I always get those weird you don't belong here, dork looks from the girls shopping in there. Every time (which has been, like, four times). I get too weirded out and leave without buying anything.

The Old and the New
I'm going to get started on a few drawings of some awesome bloggers I know. In the meantime, here's one of my old sketches and one of my new ones. The new one was done last night at 1 AM, and you can tell. I'll go in and fix that nose at some point. :]
What is your favorite thing to sketch?
Old Sketch: Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold. This was done during my sophomore year of High School.
New sketch: Based off of this picture.

A Wee Sketch
Welcome to my brand new blog! It took me quite a while to come up with a name for it. Finally, I decided to stick with what I'm known for -- being a tall blonde. Most people don't know that I'm an artist in the making (that one was taken, BTW), but that will soon change after I spam them with the link to this blog. Anyways...
Adding another blog to my list is no big deal at this point, especially since I have so much time to draw over the summer. In case you're curious, these are (some of) the websites I manage. Two are not listed.
www.ataviststrilogy.com
www.zanniplainjanefashion.com
www.userbasedcasting.com
tallblondeartist.blogspot.com
So not a lot, actually. I suppose writing the dang books should count for something as well. I look super busy, but it's a manageable load over the summer. Thank goodness for the post scheduler!
Well, I'm going to continue fixing up this new blog. Please follow & hit up my Twitter (@ataviststrilogy)!
K xoxo
